Why Employers are Using Apps to Engage Employees

June 29, 2016

With much of my career spent in healthcare, I enjoy reading about new advancements in that space. While that still interests me, what really sparks my curiosity today are the ever-changing trends of our digital age.

Mary Meeker’s annual Internet Trends Report stands apart as one of the most comprehensive and informative studies in this sphere. Ms. Meeker, a partner at VC firm Kleiner Perkins, delivered her 2016 Internet Trends Report  a few weeks ago at the Code Conference. Our team at Novarus was particularly interested in what Meeker had to say about the state of mobile technology.

She highlighted the following trends among smartphone users, underscoring the power of mobile:

  • Average US user spends 5 hours per day on smartphones

  • 37 apps are installed on each user’s device, on average

  • 12 apps are used daily, on average

Isn’t it incredible that despite how much time we’re all spending on our phones and how many apps we all have that so few of us have an app from our employer?  Every company should have their own employee-facing app.

We can help. Novarus' EmployeeConnect is a mobile app solution that allows your company to manage benefits costs, increase employee engagement, and improve productivity.
